Art Themed Hotel Due to Open in Melbourne

Art Themed Hotel Due to Open in Melbourne Anyone planning to visit Melbourne on their Australia holidays in the late summer might wish to consider a new “art hotel” that will be opening for the first time in August.

The Blackman hotel, named after illustrator Charles Blackman, is the latest in a trio of new hotels whose décor is inspired by Australian artists. The other two hotels inspired by the art of Adam Cullen and John Olsen opened in Melbourne.

The luxury hotel will feature a range of Mr Blackman’s art on its walls as well as 207 rooms and suites – many of which will have their own spas and terraces.

Tourism Australia has described the Blackman as having an “enviable” location in the Melbourne St Kilda suburb and of boasting an “edgy, boutique interior.”

The tourist authority went on to add that one of the most historic hotels in Tasmania, Hobart’s Grand Mercure Hadleys Hotel, is due to re-open in September after a major renovation programme. This has included the addition of an extra 128 suites with spectacular views of Hobart and its harbour, along with a new a-la-carte restaurant and café.

Australia holidays are highly popular at the moment, with people flocking to search for cheap flights to Australia online. A recent survey found that of all the countries competing in this year’s World Cup, 41 per cent of people would like to visit Australia.

As well as the cheap flights, many great deals on cheap hotels can be found online, for those people who may be looking for a brilliant bargain, rather than the pricey luxury to be found at the likes of the Blackman and the Grand Mercure Hadleys hotels.
