Australia Holidays are Never Dull in NSW
UK travellers planning Australia holidays in New South Wales (NSW) will have a great choice of public events and festivals to choose from, whenever they care to visit, according to the state's tourism agency.
Destination NSW chief executive Sandra Chipchase said that as well as the top city break destination of Sydney, with its famous harbour bridge and Opera House and the surrounding countryside, "there are always exciting things happening in Sydney and regional New South Wales throughout the year – from stage shows and art exhibitions to major music festivals, sports events and surf carnivals."
For example, she noted that December sees the start of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, with all the thrills and spills of its V8 Supercar racing series. At the end of the month, Sydney plays host to some spectacular New Year's Eve celebrations, with "the world's most spectacular fireworks display", Ms Chipchase added.
There are many cheap flights to Sydney available from the UK, with carriers such as British Airways from London Heathrow and Emirates from Manchester. There is also the Australian national flag carrier Qantas that offers cheap flights from Heathrow.
At the end of last week, Qantas revealed that it is soon to be trying out "the very latest technology in inflight entertainment" – Q Streaming.
The application will allow passengers to stream content to tablets supplied by the carrier on its flights, as well as allowing customers to access inflight entertainment on their own laptops, smartphones and similar devices.
A six-week trial will take place on Qantas Boeing 767-300 aircraft from the end of October to early December. If all goes well, it should be rolled out across the fleet next year.
