Bmi Expands Heathrow Services
Bmi announced plans this week to begin offering cheap flights to France and Morocco later in the year from London Heathrow Airport.
The airline has been planning for some time to expand the number of routes it offers from Britain's busiest airport. From 25 August it will start operating cheap flights to Nice in the south of France and cheap flights to Agadir in Morocco from 29 October.
On 30 October the daily service to Nice will double in frequency, while the Morocco flights will be twice-daily from the start.
The carrier's chief commercial officer Joerg Hennemann said that bmi was pleased to be able to offer passengers cheap flights to Nice as a top leisure destination.
"Located on the south-east coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea, Nice has long been a favourite year-round destination and we are delighted that our customers now have the chance to discover this cosmopolitan city with convenient schedules," he declared.
"The addition of Agadir will enable us to meet the increasing demand from both corporate and leisure customers."
As with its other overseas routes, both economy and business class passengers on bmi flights are allowed to take sporting equipment and bicycles on board free as part of their hold baggage entitlement. Earlier in the year bmi began operating cheap flights to Morocco's popular cities of Marrakesh and Casablanca from Heathrow, and these services are due to increase in frequency to five times a week from the beginning of October.
As if that was not enough, 13 October will see the start of cheap flights to India's city of Amritsar from the London hub.
