Book Early For World Cup Car Hire

Book Early For World Cup Car Hire Anyone taking South Africa holidays at the time of the looming World Cup has been urged to make their car hire arrangements as early as possible, to avoid disappointment.

The Drive South Africa group said that football fans were already landing in South African cities in large numbers ahead of the sporting tournament, which is due to begin in June.

This will see an even bigger influx of visitors – and even more pressure on the country’s car hire fleets, due to a spate of bookings by visitors and people from neighbouring towns and cities.

The group said that most airlines operating within South Africa are ready to take advantage of the massive increase in demand for car hire and prices may well rise, the nearer the World Cup approaches. It pointed out that booking car hire early and avoiding premium prices would prevent the need for “frantic last-minute budgeting” upon arrival.

Drive South Africa went on to point out that failing to book car hire early could also mean that many vehicles are not available later on – demand tends to be highest for SUVs, 4X4s, people carriers and family cars. It said that there was a larger amount of smaller vehicles like the Toyota Yaris or Kia Picanto in most car hire fleets, but there was no guarantee that any vehicle types would be available as the tournament drew nearer.

Since the major host cities for the World Cup matches are quite far apart – matches are taking place in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Rustenberg, Bloemfontein and Pretoria – public transport may not always be easy or even available for travel between the venues.

Under such circumstances, and especially with the extra pressure on the transport network that the sheer extra numbers of people will cause, car hire – if booked early – could well prove the best solution.
