Cayman Islands Triumphs in Best of the Caribbean
Travellers considering Caribbean holidays this year might wish to opt for the Cayman Islands, after the tropical destination scored very highly in the recent "Best of the Caribbean" issue of Caribbean Travel and Life magazine.
The 250,000-plus readers of the magazine were asked to vote on their favourite destinations, attractions and experiences on their Caribbean holidays. The Cayman Islands came up trumps and won a series of mentions.
The islands' popular Seven Mile Beach was voted the best beach in the Caribbean – meaning that it must have fended off some pretty stiff competition. The best small hotel was reckoned to be the Little Cayman Beach Resort. Grand Cayman's Ritz-Carlton Silver Rain scooped the award for the best spa.
Water sports are an important element of Caribbean holidays, and the Cayman Islands did well yet again. The island of Grand Cayman was voted runner-up in the section for the best snorkelling and diving facilities.
The Cayman Islands acting director of tourism Shomari Scott was thrilled with the accolades, and said: "Receiving accolades from Caribbean Travel and Life's annual Reader's Choice poll is a highly sought after accomplishment for any Caribbean island. It represents the unbiased opinion of travellers across the Caribbean region and confirms the superlative standard of the Cayman Islands as a destination, offering all of the key ingredients for a perfect vacation to our visitors."
Cheap flights to the Caribbean are available from most major UK airports. For the best selection of cheap flights to the Cayman Islands, look for routes to Grand Cayman operating with airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and other reputable carriers.
