Cheap Hotels Increasing in Availability
A study has revealed a large overall drop in European hotel prices in the first month of the year.
Cheap hotels became far more prevalent across the Continent in January, with discounts of up to 40 per cent being made in many cases.
In the Hotel Price Radar study, published by Hotel booking group HRS.com, the average price of a double hotel room in Moscow and Madrid dropped by a quarter, compared to the same time last year. There were also 16 per cent cuts in hotel prices to be found in Zurich and Istanbul.
The latter is particularly good news for people looking for Turkey holidays this year. Cheap hotels in Turkey are always highly sought after, to make money go a little further, and this will help a lot.
Anyone looking for cheap hotels in India will also be pleased at the findings of the survey. HRS said that the greatest drop in prices was to be found in Mumbai, where there had been year-on-year reductions of around 40 per cent.
Dubai holidays got cheaper, with hotel rooms dropping in price by up to 30 per cent and prices fell by a quarter in Mexico City and Buenos Aires.
HRS.com UK and Ireland commercial director Jon West commented: “It is important in today’s climate, more so than ever, for hotels to offer their customers great value for money to ensure they retain a competitive edge in the current market,” according to TravelMole.com.
He continued: “2010 looks set to be another very challenging for our sector and these findings should certainly be seen as a positive – bargains are out there to be had and keeping the industry competitive will only serve to keep customers happy.”
