Dubai Airport Outstrips New York JFK

Dubai Airport Outstrips New York JFK New figures have underscored the ongoing rise of Dubai holidays, with ever-increasing visitor numbers swelling the capacity of Dubai International Airport.

Thanks to the expanding number of cheap flights to Dubai from the UK, and the sharp increase in the number of flights from the Middle East to Europe and Asia, the airport now has a larger flight capacity than New York JFK. The startling claim was made by aviation figures analyst OAG in this month's Frequency and Capacity Trends Statistics Report.

The report said that there has been a 14 per cent increase in seat capacity at Dubai International – outstripping even the 11 per cent average increase in airport seat capacity across the rest of the Middle East.

OAG revealed that Dubai now has 5.2 million seats available on flights this month, compared to just 4.9 million at New York JFK.

One of many new attractions for anyone considering Dubai holidays this autumn is the emirate's International Jewellery Week, which starts on 7 October. The event takes place at Dubai's International Convention and Exhibition Centre and is open to members of the public, buyers and sellers alike.

There will be more than 300 different exhibitors at the fair, all hoping to show off their wares and sell some unique and beautiful pieces to visitors who have taken advantage of one of the many cheap flights to Dubai. New pieces of jewellery will be exhibited alongside antiques, according to organisers, so there should be something to suit every taste and budget.

Entrance to the event will be free to the public, with trade visitors being required to register with organisers first.
