EasyJet Keeps Crete Sweet with More Cheap Flights
Cheap flights carrier easyJet announced its first route to Crete from its headquarters at London Luton Airport this week as part of its ongoing expansion plans.
The cheap flights to Heraklion in Crete will begin next spring, on 21 April, and will leave the hub weekly. The airline's UK commercial manager Hugh Aitken said that the move underlined easyJet's pledge to keep air travel both easy and affordable for UK customers.
"We're delighted to be launching this new route to the sunshine destination of Heraklion in Crete," Mr Aitken went on.
"Crete remains a huge draw to British holidaymakers and the addition of easyJet flights from Luton Airport makes it even easier for travellers to visit this wonderful destination."
EasyJet now has 16 aircraft based at Luton Airport and ferries over five million British holidaymakers through the hub every year. It operates 35 routes from the airport, offering cheap flights to Barcelona, Cyprus, Mallorca, Istanbul and Munich, among others. Only last month it announced plans to begin flying to Corfu from Luton twice-weekly from the end of March next year, and the cheap flights to Crete are further proof of its commitment to the hub.
As the largest of all the Cretan cities, Heraklion is the perfect place to start your Crete holidays. Heraklion Airport also offers transfers, with cheap flights to the popular tourist resorts of Agios Nikolaos and Malia.
Thousands of holidaymakers descend on Crete every year, thanks to the island's gorgeous beaches, spectacular mountain scenery and its fascinating and unique ancient history – with plenty of incredible architectural sites, including the famous palace of Knossos.
