Etihad to Offer More Cheap Flights to Abu Dhabi
Anyone planning Middle East holidays later in the year will have even more choice of cheap flights to the region, following an announcement recently by Etihad Airways.
The United Arab Emirates carrier said that from the beginning of August, it will be doubling the frequency of its cheap flights to Abu Dhabi from Manchester Airport. This will bring the total number of weekly flights from seven to 14.
The carrier had already announced plans to extend its daily service of cheap flights to Abu Dhabi from Manchester to 10 flights a week earlier in the year, but said last week that demand had now exceeded even its own expectations.
Etihad Airways chief executive officer James Hogan explained that it was dedicated to serving its Manchester to Abu Dhabi route as efficiently as possible, as the service has been a "key part" of the airline's network since 2006. He added: "The frequency increase illustrates how Etihad has firmly established itself in the north-west of England and that we are now the airline of choice for business and leisure travellers, whether flying to Abu Dhabi or transferring through to destinations in the east, such as Australia, Thailand and Japan."
Manchester Airport managing director Andrew Harrison commented: "Following the increase in flights and the opening of the premium lounge in Terminal 1 at the end of last year, Etihad has again shown its commitment to the North of England by increasing the frequency of the service." Etihad opened a new lounge at Manchester Airport last November aimed at serving the needs of first class and business travellers with the airline.
