Manchester Offers More Cheap Flights to Spain
Travellers beginning their Spain holidays in the north-west of England now have even more choice of cheap flights, thanks to new and enhanced services from Manchester Airport.
The hub has recently begun hosting cheap flights to Bilbao with budget airline easyJet – the first time that Manchester has been able to offer a direct route to the Basque capital. Meanwhile, rival cheap fares carrier Jet2.com has bolstered its own cheap flights to Barcelona from the airport, and has promised a new route for next year, offering cheap flights to Reus, just south of Barcelona, for travellers seeking some "sand, sea and sun" along the Costa Daurada.
The easyJet service to Bilbao departs Manchester three times a week, whisking holidaymakers to the beautiful northern Spanish city of history, art and culture. The airline's UK commercial manager Ali Gayward declared that "Bilbao is a dynamic city that offers visitors a rich culture. It is also ideally located to provide visitors with access to other popular destinations such as San Sebastian, the Pyrenees and Pamplona."
For its part, Jet2.com has recently announced that it is raising the capacity on its cheap flights to Barcelona from Manchester by 25 per cent, as well as launching its new Manchester-Reus service next year. In 2012, the Barcelona flights will leave Manchester five times a week, while the cheap flights to Reus will be twice weekly.
Jet2.com managing director Ian Doubtfire said: "Since we launched our 2012 flights to Barcelona, we've had strong demand. We're pleased to make it possible for even more people to get away and enjoy the magical city of Barcelona."
"The news means that in the last two weeks Jet2.com has announced 100,000 additional seats on 2012 flights."
