Marvelous Mojave Museum Reopens for Las Vegas Holidays
UK travellers taking cheap flights to Las Vegas later this month will have even more things to do away from the casinos, concert halls and theatres, when the Nevada State Museum re-opens in a state-of-the-art new facility.
The museum's new site at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve opens its gates on 28 October and promises to be over twice as big as its former location in Lorenzi Park, covering an area of some 70,000 square feet.
With the renovations to the site and upgrading of the exhibits costing some £32.8 million, curators are promising a museum experience like no other.
It will contain a fascinating collection of items and special attractions, such as a vintage display of Las Vegas showgirl costumes, examples of the local flora and fauna, and the first fossils of dinosaurs ever to be found in the state of Nevada. The museum will also have many interactive displays and video presentations, plus educational exhibits telling the story of the state, with accounts of its history, its geography and the lives of its inhabitants over the centuries.
Nevada Division of Museums and History administrator Peter Barton said: "This new museum is a great asset to Nevada, both for visitors and residents. It tells a multi-faceted story of our state."
The Las Vegas Springs Preserve is a great place to visit in its own right, covering some 180 acres with gardens, nature trails, cafés, parks and spaces for special events.
Cheap flights to Las Vegas are available across the UK, and Las Vegas holidays are a great choice throughout the year. They combine the world-famous glitz of the city with the incredible natural environment of the Mojave Desert.
