Monarch Announces New Egypt and Turkey Routes Next Summer
Monarch Airlines revealed this week that it will commence cheap flights to Egypt for the first time next summer, as part of several new routes to sunshine destinations.
The four new routes will operate from London Gatwick and Manchester airports, starting at the end of April next year. Tickets are already on sale, the cheap fares carrier said.
On 26 April, cheap flights to Dalaman in Turkey will begin at Manchester, with a daily service. This will be followed by twice-weekly cheap flights to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt on 1 May, while Gatwick's new Monarch services start on 3 May, with twice weekly cheap flights to Antalya in Turkey and thrice weekly services to Sharm el Sheikh.
All services will run until October 2012.
Monarch Airlines managing director Kevin George said that the new cheap flights on the carrier's summer schedule would give customers the chance to "plan ahead and grab a great deal to their favourite sunshine destinations".
He went on to point out that the addition of new scheduled services to Turkey and Egypt was part of the airline's move to a greater focus to scheduled rather than charter flights, which would also enable more passengers to "take advantage of our innovative 'build your own class' service,"
Mr George went on to stress that customers booking by debit card will no longer need to face a charge for doing so, thanks to Monarch's recent decision to shelve the fees and introduce a cheaper fixed-rate charge for credit card bookings.
Last week, government representatives in Egypt said that they expect a resurgence in holidays to the country next year.
