Orlando Airport Opens New Car Hire Facilities
Travellers taking advantage of cheap car hire deals during their Florida holidays will be able to pick up their vehicles from brand new facilities at Orlando International Airport after the completion of a massive new renovation scheme.
The $60 million project involved a complete revamp of the airport’s car hire service area and means that some 96 per cent of all car hire vehicles will be available from parking areas just next to the hire and service areas.
An expansion of the car service areas has allowed the car hire companies to remain within the airport when readying returned vehicles for their next customer.
The main advantage of this for customers looking to take advantage of Orlando car hire services is that the main companies, such as Hertz, Enterprise and Thrifty will have many more of their vehicles available in the airport parking areas, instead of from parking lots a considerable distance from the terminal, as in the past.
Before the refurbishment, customers would have to take a shuttle bus just to reach their cars. This will still be the case for anyone wishing to track down the cheapest car hire deals with smaller independent agencies, but their customers may well decide that the extra savings are worth a short bus ride.
For everyone else, the new, improved car hire parking facilities will make the transition from plane to hire vehicle all the smoother upon arrival at Orlando. The completion of the upgrade also means an end to the $2.50-per-vehicle tax that airport authorities levied on car hire companies to pay for the project, which should translate into a slight reduction of charges for future travellers.
