Ryanair Offers Discounted Golfing Breaks to the Algarve
Ryanair has been seeking to encourage more golfers to book their cheap flights to the Algarve with the budget airline by offering free passage for their sporting gear.
On Monday, it announced that customers booking cheap flights to Faro with the carrier from the UK, France, Belgium, Holland or Germany before midnight on 30 September can bring their golf bag for free. Due to the bulky nature of the equipment, this will afford them a substantial saving on their journey.
Ryanair has also made a deal with Booking.com and Hertz to offer cheap hotels, cheap car hire and discounted green fees for golfers seeking to while away the hours on the links during their Portugal holidays. The airline stressed that places on the extra cheap flights to Faro were limited, as were hotel bookings, and urged holidaymakers to "book early for a great winter golf break in the Algarve."
The carrier's head of communications Stephen McNamara declared: "Ryanair has cut the cost of golf breaks to the Algarve in November and December with a winning combination of Europe's guaranteed lowest fares, free golf bag carriage and hotel discounts from Booking.com, green fee discounts from Ryanair Golf Direct and car-hire discounts and free upgrades from Hertz."
"These great value golf packages, which provide savings of over €80, are available until 30th Sept for travel between 1st November and 15th December 2011."
Britons seeking a less sporting emphasis on their Faro holidays may like to know that this month sees the opening of the city's first hostel, catering for mostly young travellers on a budget. Hostel Casa da Alagoa lies in the city centre, and has a total of 48 beds, plus a communal lounge and kitchen, outdoor areas and an interior courtyard. It opens officially on 7 September.
