Ryanair and Hertz Make Car Hire Easy
Cheap fares carrier Ryanair and car rental giant Hertz have joined forces to make booking cheap flights and cheap car hire part of a single smooth process.
Under the “effortless” car hire system, Ryanair is pledging to match its guaranteed cheapest fares with Hertz’s Best Rate Guarantee – a promise which is being made exclusively available to the airline’s passengers.
During the cheap flights booking process, Ryanair customers will be offered special cheap car hire rates from Hertz and need only to click on the “add selected car” option to book both flights and rental vehicle at the same time.
The budget carrier’s marketing manager Sinead Finn commented in a press release: “This will allow them to build their perfect holiday, business trip or city break.”
Hertz’s vice-president for sales Fabrice Quniqenel said: “We are delighted to announce this new development,” arguing that it would now, “be even easier for the passengers to include a car rental as part of their purchase going forward.”
Ryanair also took aim at airports operator BAA last week, renewing its call for the quick sale of London Stansted and either Edinburgh or Glasgow airport – as recommended last year by the Competition Commission.
The carrier blamed increased passenger charges and poor, slow passenger services for a drop in traffic at all three airports.
Ryanair head of communications Stephen McNamara said: “BAA’s traffic figures show continued passengers declines at Stansted, Edinburgh and Glasgow, proving yet again that high cost, badly run airport monopolies like the BAA simply don’t work.”
He argued that forcing the two airports into separate ownership would create a more “competitive environment,” with ultimately more cheap flights, better customer service and more capacity.
