Swiss Alpine Resort Promises Fun and Relaxation
With winter sports on many people's minds at the moment, the Swiss Alpine destination of Zermatt has been pushing itself as a fantastic all-round choice for UK holidaymakers this week.
With more cheap flights to Switzerland available from airports across Britain than ever before, Zermatt promises a great value holiday that gives the visitor the best in winter activities – plus the opportunity to relax and unwind. Zermatt Tourism media and content manager Edith Zweifel said that the destination was "a very attractive place because you can find whatever you need for relaxing and interesting holidays."
She pointed out that there were many events scheduled to take place at the resort over the next few months, such as the Horu Trophy curling tournament, which returns to Zermatt between 12 January and 15 January next year. Curling teams from across the globe will descend on the Swiss resort to compete for the trophy itself.
Later on in the year, Zermatt hosts its acoustically-inclined music festival, Zermatt Unplugged, which takes place between 17 April and 21 April. The annual festival has previously attracted artists such as David Gray, Mando Diao, OneRepublic and Seal. This year headline acts will be revealed when the line-up is announced in December.
From the UK, the best way to get to Zermatt is to take cheap flights to Geneva and then travel on to the Alpine resort via train.
