Turkey Bookings Bloom through Late Deals

Turkey Bookings Bloom through Late Deals Top Turkish resorts have seen a welcome boost in bookings for last minute holidays as the British tourists bite the bullet and grab late deals for their holiday plans this summer.

Hotel and accommodation online specialist youtravel.com said that it had seen a massive surge in late bookings over the last three week. The first half of June recorded a 15 per cent upswing in travel bookings as the holiday season moves closer to its peak.

Turkey hotel deals have been prolific, with an 11 per cent increase in bookings to Bodrum while Dalaman saw a huge leap in bookings of 21 per cent.

Tunisia, Portugal and Greece have also seen encouraging signs of rapid growth, all hitting double digit rises in holiday bookings. The ever-popular holidays in Spain also received a boost with Costa del Sol resorts increasing booking numbers by 14 per cent.

Sales and marketing director for youtravel.com, Paul Riches said that 2009 bookings had shown a distinct move away from the usual trends: “Historically, the shoulder seasons are hard to sell whilst the peak July and August weeks are booked heavily in advance. This is not the case this year,” reported TravelMole.com.

The challenging economy has inevitably affected a lot of decisions from families about whether they will take a trip abroad, but the delayed boom is a welcome one for the travel company. “In our minds, there is no doubt that booking levels will continue to grow in the next few weeks, even before the peak season hit us,” Mr Riches concluded.
