easyJet Hotel Bookings Bumped Up in 2010

easyJet Hotel Bookings Bumped Up in 2010 Cheap flights carrier easyJet revealed today that it has experienced a boom in the number of UK holidaymakers seeking cheap hotels via the company's accommodation option.

easyJet recently celebrated its 15th anniversary as a pioneering company giving customers cheap fares on international flights. It has since diversified into car rental and accommodation, and plans to go even further. The cheap hotels arm of the "easyEmpire" is run by Hotelbeds and the two firms announced that there has been a 60 per cent increase in accommodation sales year-on-year.

"We identified a number of key criteria which consumers needed in place in order to make their hotel selection easier and more engaging," easyJet head of ancillary revenue Nick Hughes told TravelMole.com. "For customers who have already selected their flights on easyJet.com, a wider choice of accommodation with tailored offers is now being presented prior to checkout, and the results have been impressive."

He added: "We intend to build further upon this convenience for our customers of being able to add hotels to their shopping basket while in the flight booking funnel."

easyJet also plans to move further into the cheap holidays industry thanks to a new partnership with Lowcost Travel Group. The airline wants people to consider booking package holidays with it while booking their cheap flights to Europe and beyond.

However, the move has caused disquiet in the independent package holidays sector, with some operators worried that the carrier's dominance on certain air routes will leave holidaymakers with less choice – both when it comes to cheap flights and cheap hotels.
